 Superted V

Our Home

Superted V is a Beneteau 57 built in 2004 by Beneteau France.   We looked at many different boats before deciding on this one.  Our criteria was to have a boat which was seaworthy and safe which would also sail well and be a quick passage maker.  We also wanted something with a sea-kindly motion - hopefully to reduce the feeling of sea-sickness!  As it's going to be our home we wanted plenty of space to livaboard and plenty of stowage space both above and below decks and of course space for family and friends to visit - that all adds up to a lot of space!  Down below a comfortable bed and decent shower was a must.  As our plan is to sail across the Pacific at some point we need to be self sufficient so a water maker and generator were also on the list together with a good fridge and freezer.  A good proportion of our time will probably be spent in hot climates so we wanted a large, comfortable cockpit.   The Beneteau 57 had all of this and more.

Our challenge now is to provide all the power necessary to run all this!  We're going to start by installing a couple of solar panels and an inverter/charger.  Our carbon footprint is going to be so much reduced!
