Blog & Photos - December 2009

Dec 1st - Had long sail back to Grenada from Los Testigos - just as we thought wind on the nose and tide against - had a few squalls but arrived back in St Georges late evening. Spent a few days catching up with friends in Prickly Bay and getting ready for our special visitor's arrival.

Dec 10th - Newly qualified with PhD, Dr Findlay arrived in Grenada for a well earned holiday. We embarrassed her at the airport with a big sign - just wanted to show off our smart offspring! Spent a couple of days around Grenada - playing and visiting and generally chilling.

Dec 13th - Sailed to Carriacou to dive with Silver Divers. Bit of a windy and rough crossing! In between dives, spent time touring on the local buses.

Dec 17th - Dec 22nd - All dived out so headed for Tobago Cays - chilled out in Petit St Vincent before heading for Union Island and the Cays. Snorkelled with Nurse Sharks, Eagle Rays, Turtles and Caribbean Reef sharks. Played on the beaches and in the clear blue water at Mayreau and Canouan. Built some great sand castles - what is it about us English and our castles?

Dec 23rd - Arrived Bequia for Christmas and did some more diving with Dive Bequia.

Dec 25th - Our first Christmas in the Caribbean but didn't miss out on our traditional dinner with all the trimmings. Cooking shared between John on Durban Dancer - makes a mean roast potato - Neil & Tracy on Adonde - delicious stuffing, roast potatoes - even cooked in goose fat, sausages, hats and crackers and us on Superted - babying the turkeys in the temperamental boat oven - which has settings from 1 to 9 but it's either on or it's off! Anyway the whole dinner was fabulous - we even enjoyed the spouts! A lovely day and topped off by a brandy flamed Christmas pud! - Brilliant.

Dec 27th - Near perfect sail on windward side of St Vincent to St Lucia. Trolled 2 lines all the way there but no bites.

Dec 28th - Dec 29th - Our last couple of days before saying a tearful goodbye to Helen for her trip back home.

Dec 30th - Back to Bequia to celebrate New Year.

Dec 31st - New Years Eve (or Old Years Night as they call it here) spent with friends and locals partying and dancing. It all happens on the streets so a great atmosphere.

So to all our friends and family wherever you are we wish you all the very best for 2010.
